Taeko is a character from the Near Future chapter, The Outsider. She is the caretaker of the Bright Sparks Orphanage.

Taeko has long, brown, straight hair and wears a purple blouse with red pants.
Personality[]
Taeko is a caring and devoted young woman. She does her best for the children of the orphanage, and tries to make sure they don't get into trouble. She is highly attached to her boyfriend, Lawless, often worrying for him as he constantly puts himself in danger.
History[]
The Near Future: The Outsider[]
As the caretaker of the Bright Sparks Orphanage, Taeko is responsible for the well-being of its orphans. Her responsibilities include laundry, organizing naptimes, and even serving as their teacher. She introduces the newly-orphaned Akira and Kaori to the other orphans during one of her classes.
For the majority of the chapter, Taeko remains at Bright Sparks Orphanage, looking after the orphans. At one point, Akira has Watanabe infiltrate Taeko's room in order to obtain her "dirty little secret". Taeko soon catches on, however, and gives Akira a slap for his insolence.
When the Crusaders set fire to the Orphanage, Taeko runs inside to find Kaori, but collapses from the smoke and is forced to leave when Akira arrives. When Lawless comes to the rescue with the Steel Titan, she pleads with him to stop exerting himself, but he refuses to listen. As he passes away, she cries out his name.
In the chapter's ending, Taeko is seen at the newly-restored Bright Sparks, breaking up a fight between the orphans.
Final Chapter: The Dominion of Hate[]
In the true ending, Taeko accompanies the orphans at Timeless Wonders Antiques, where Doc Tobei tests out his matter transmitter.
Etymology[]
Taeko (妙子) is a Japanese female given name. The kanji used to write it means "mysterious child".
